Raj Singh Dungarpur : End of an era.
Former chief of BCCI, Raj Singh Dungarpur has died on 12 September 2009 after suffering from a long-term illness. He also served as manager of Indian cricket teams on several occasions. The 74-year-old Dungarpur, who was president of the Cricket Board for three years in the late 1990s, was suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
The funeral will be held in Dungarpur tomorrow.

An Ahmedabad magistrate given verdict that incident in which Ishrat Jahan and three others were killed in June, 2004, was a case of “fake encounter.” In the report on the encounter, Mr. Tamang has named the encounter specialist of the Gujarat police, D.G. Vanzara, and others as accused. Vanzara and few other policemen are already in jail for the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.

Lakhs of mourners swarmed Hyderabad to bid a tearful adieu to Y S Rajasekhara Reddy,Andhra CM, who was killed in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, on his final journey to his native Kadappa district.
The body was wrapped in a tri-colour and kept in an open army truck decorated with flowers for taking it to Gandhi Bhavan,State Headquarters of Congress in Nampally as thousands of mourners chanting Reddy's name followed the vehicle.
Reddy's son Jagan Mohan, Rajya Sabha member and close aide of Reddy, K V P Ramchandra Rao and Congress MP Mohammed Azharuddin were among those who stood near the casket carrying YS Reddy's body with hundreds of police personnel surrounding the truck.
The body is now being taken to his hometown Pulivendla in Kadapa for last rites this evening.
All leaders from country and state played wreaths on Reddy's body and also wrote condolence messages at the Chief Minister's camp office in Begumpet.

World's largest mobile phone manufacturer Nokia is all set to enter the PC industry with the launch of their first amazing 3G netbook, the Nokia Booklet 3G.
In the netbook segment, Asus rules the industry . Asus launched the Eee PC in 2007 and all other PC manufacturers had come up with their own versions of the netbook.


The Nokia Booklet 3G will be based on Intel Atom processor and Microsoft Windows operating system with expected battery life of 12 hours and a weight of 1.25 kg.
No details of the Nokia netbook price is available as yet, but the Nokia Booklet 3G is expected to be priced at $799, as per some websites.

With Tata indicom 's new tariff plan, CDMA pre-paid users can now call endlessly for hours as they have to pay only Re. 1 for the call on a ' Pay per Call ' basis.
In the new 'Pay-Per-Call' plan, instead of the usual general practice of charging on a one minute pulse basis, though, Tata Teleservices pre-paid CDMA subscribers will be charged Re 1 for all local calls and Rs 3 for long distance calls, irrespective of the call duration.
All other Tata Indicom and Teleservices subscribers would be able to avail of this new tariff by paying a daily fee of Re 1 or Rs 30 monthly and call rates would also apply on mobile to landline and to calls made to other networks as well.
The plan also offers half rate for sending SMS at Re 0.50, for both local and national destinations. Hope Tata Indicom will get some more lot of customers fot their CDMA segment.

India last suffered a dry monsoon in 2002, when rainfall was 19.2% below average through the season, and July rains were 54.2% below normal. India's crop output in 2002/03 fell 18%.
This year,in 2009, June rainfall was the worst in over 80 years, while July saw a 5% deficit. August began with an exceptionally dry two weeks, followed by near-normal rains in the later part of the month. From the start of June to Aug end, rains were 25% below normal.
Weak and uneven monsoon rains have ruined India's rice crop and hit the sugarcane, soybean and groundnut crops as well as disrupting the flow of water into the main reservoirs, which are vital for hydro-power generation and winter irrigation.
